Iconic Street Art Of Dr Dadasaheb Phalke In Mumbai

Mumbai is behind when it comes to street art. You can find a lot of street art campaigns along the Tulsi Pipe road along the Western Railways barrier walls. You will find a few here and there, which are more of a nuisance. But hardly one's that are officially created by artists.

Here's one I clicked. Its located on the corporate building of MTNL (Maharashtra Telephone Nigam Limited) and it is dedicated to the legendary Dr. Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema.

Mumbai city is dreaming big. The local authority, business and Realtors want to make it a mega city. I am not sure if the people of the city share the same vision. For someone who was born in this city, its already changed a lot to be recognized or compared with its former self.

Commuting daily to work in town from my sub-urban abode, I see the new slowly and surely creeping into the space of the old. Change is part of any cities growth. But it should consider the collective interest of all and not just a few. With residential apartment cost that matches or beats the cost of housing in big cities like Tokyo, New York and London, one wonders - is this city changing for good or for worst.

Mumbai Autorickshaw, A Daily Necessity To Travel

A snapped view from a Auto Rickshaw ride. They are the only challengers to the lawless drivers that the bikers are, in the city. The one thing they ensure is point to point drop service. No other public mode of transportation is so convenient. They can take you through crowded streets, lanes, highways without any hesitation and in the shortest time possible. Driven mainly by migrants to the city, these essential mode of transportation will be your first choice in suburbs (since they are not allowed to ply in the city).

Unlike other cities in India, the public transportation in Mumbai runs on the fare meter system that works. No need to ask for a rate card since the new electronic meters display the fare upfront for the passenger.  

My first video upload on YouTube

Hi Guys,

I must say, I had a very good experience uploading my first video on YoutTube today. I had an old video which I had captured on my Nokia E71 a couple of years back and I felt like sharing it online. So I just did it.

I have been a YouTube user for quite some time but did not realize that there are so many features embedded into the website. Specially the personal screen. Now unfortunately you land on a home screen where you are shown 'activities', 'subscriptions' and 'recommendations'. But hidden in your profile name (which is click able) is your personalized screen where you see your uploads and your playlist. Now I know what you might say at this point, 'we it was there and we already know that'. True, but I dont understand why this feature has been pushed back.

One reasone I can think of is that its very 'Me' kind of interface. My playlist, uploads, subscriptions etc. And the default homescreen instead allows YouTube to push videos that are featured, recommended and advertised.

But having said that, I do miss this personalization of my YouTube account when I login to view videos.

Anyways, here is my video of my drive through Goa during the monsoons. IT was a beautiful experience and I love the video I captured. Though my Nokia N71 is not exactly the best phone for video capture, it has done a decent job. Sorry for the quality and lack of high resolution viewing. I think its time to get myself a video camera, portable i,e.
